Overview
International event organizer for nonprofit fund raising.
Opportunity / Threat
The company was seeking mezzanine-level financing and needed to update its business plan. A new strategic plan and three-year projections would provide the foundation for the business plan used to seek funding.
The company was also looking at other product/market opportunities that would allow continued growth. The funding they received would be used to finance the best new growth opportunities.
Action / Result
Dr. Gooding helped the top-management team identify industry trends, and analyze the company's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Management also evaluated and prioritized several product/market opportunities, developing three revenue goals for each of the selected opportunities. Dr. Gooding next facilitated a day long strategic planning retreat with the entire management team helping them develop functional goals and objectives to implement the company's strategy.
The company is currently using the results of the strategic planning process to establish departmental/program budgets for the coming year and develop a business plan to seek financing for the new growth opportunities.
Client Comments
"We spent a great deal of time discussing what we should and should not be doing. We reviewed and analyzed a lot of information we can build on for the future. A great thing about the plan is that we can go right into budgets _ our forecast of income is done. Everything was put in writing and laid out very well."
"The strategic planning process Dr. Gooding took us through kept us on track. He wasn't just a facilitator. He was a channeler, a mover - keeping us focused, letting us go and then reeling us back in."
"It's good to have an outsider involved in the planning process. When you try to get information on your own, its often tainted by your personal biases. If staff involvement is seen as part of a management push, you don't get honest input."
"Dr. Gooding made me feel like he wanted to be and was a part of the team. His attitude was it's not 'just a job'. I hope this becomes a long-term relationship."
